Executive Chairman

Professor Suresh Narine, named in 2011 as one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 Leaders, is originally from Guyana. Professor Narine has an impressive academic career that includes numerous awards including the prestigious “Growing Alberta Leadership Award for Innovation” received in 2005 for pioneering the development of technology to produce polyurethanes from vegetable oils among many other accomplishments. Also in 2005, Professor Narine accepted a presidential appointment as the Director of Guyana’s Institute of Applied Science and Technology (IAST), a role which he maintains, together with his academic appointment as Senior Professor for Trent University, his alma mater, in the Departments of Physics and Astronomy and Chemistry and as Director of the Trent Centre for Biomaterials Research. Professor Narine is currently the Ontario Research Chair in Green Chemistry and Engineering and the NSERC/GFO/ERS Senior Research Chair in Lipid Derived Biomaterials. For his work in the development and commercialization of biofuel technology in Guyana, Professor Narine was awarded the Guyana/Canada Special Achievement Award in 2007 and in 2011 he received an award from Guyana for his contributions to Science and Technology in Canada and for his contributions in this field towards the development of Guyana. Professor Narine will be involved in establishing Guyana-based training programs for skilled–labour and management and in guiding CGX activities related to social responsibility and impact.

Erik Lyngberg

Mr. Lyngberg is a seasoned senior executive with more than 30 years of experience within the global oil and gas industry. He started his career in 1984 at Shell’s E&P business working on a variety of exploration projects in Alberta and the Mackenzie Delta region. Afterwards, he worked at numerous oil and gas companies serving in a number of various technical positions including exploration and development, tar sands, exploitation, coal bed methane, business development and asset valuation. Since 2008, Mr. Lyngberg has been primarily focused on exploration and production activities in South America. From August, 2008 to November, 2013, Mr. Lyngberg held various senior executive roles with Petrominerales Ltd., including Senior Vice President, Exploration. In November, 2013, Mr. Lyngberg joined Pacific Exploration & Production Corporation (“Pacific”) as Vice President, Technical and was been responsible for, among other things, managing Pacific’s technical office in Calgary. Mr. Lyngberg has recently been appointed Corporate Vice President, Exploration. Mr. Lyngberg holds a Master’s degree in Geology and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of British Columbia.

Dennis Mills (2*)

Mr. Mills is a director of Pacific Rubiales Energy Corp. and was Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MI Developments Inc. from 2004 to 2011, and a Vice President at Magna International from 1984 to 1987. Mr. Mills served as a Member of Parliament in Canada’s federal parliament from 1988 to 2004 and was involved in federal politics since 1980. His positions in the federal parliament included: Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Industry (1993 to 1996), Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Consumer and Corporate Affairs (1993 to 1995), Senior Policy Advisor to the Cabinet Committee on Communications (1980 to 1984), Advisor to the Minister of Energy (1980 to 1981), Senior Advisor to the Minister of Multiculturalism (1980), and Senior Communications Advisor to the Prime Minister of Canada, The Right Honourable Pierre Elliott Trudeau (1980 to 1984).
