T&T wants to work with Guyana on oil, gas
iNews Guyana

Regional energy giant, Trinidad and Tobago says it is ready to support Guyana’s efforts to develop its oil and gas potential. This was communicated to the Natural Resources and the Environment Minister Robert M. Persaud when he met with Minister of Energy and Energy Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago Kevin Ramnarine in Port of Spain, recently.

Minister Persaud’s visit was at the invitation of Minister Ramnarine to share Trinidad’s experiences and to extend support to build Guyana’s capacity and skills. Technical teams from both countries are finalising a Memorandum of Cooperation between Guyana and Trinidad by the end of February to formalize training, support for the private sector and technical assistance.

A release from the Ministry stated: “The Trinidad Minister of Energy and Energy Affairs has expressed support for Guyana’s efforts to develop a sustainable and environmentally friendly oil and gas sector.”

Meanwhile, Minister Robert Persaud participated at the Trinidad and Tobago Energy Conference, Trade show & Green Energy Day to highlight the country’s well developed hydrocarbon and petrochemical sectors. The Conference also featured discussions on the emerging Guyana/Suriname basin and new opportunities in renewable energy in the region.

The conference is an annual event which forges new business relationships and strategic alliances through networking, technical workshops and trade shows to focus on renewable energy and energy efficiency.
